(Santiago).- CGS Latam 2022, the most important event for the gaming and entertainment industry in the region, will be held in a hybrid way (online and in person) on April 26 and 27, 2022 in the city of Santiago de Chile, for which they have announced the important support and participation of the Superintendency of Gaming Casinos of Chile.

Regarding the participation of the regulatory entity, the representative of the superintendency - Vivien Villagrán, provides us with updated information on the situation in the country.
The casino industry in Chile is in a maturity stage with consolidated operators and casinos operating for more than 10 years on average. The two years leading up to the pandemic showed stable gaming revenues of around $ 700 million a year. Also, the last three months in which the casinos have operated more normally, revenues have recovered to the pre-pandemic level. Starting in 2023 and 2024 we will have new casinos or the renovation of the current ones for a period of 15 more years. Current trends in the industry are associated with the loyalty of preferred customers and having a comprehensive offer of care, entertainment and tourism infrastructure services.
In the same way, she highlighted the situation of licenses for casino establishments, in July 2020 the Superintendency of Gaming Casinos of Chile began the process of granting or renewing operating permits, for 12 places that will be available from July of 2023, and which correspond to the first casinos that began operations in 2008 and 2009, after the entry into force of the Casino Law in 2005, since the permits are valid for 15 years.
On October 18 and November 19, hearings were held for the presentation of technical and economic offers in which 13 candidate projects were presented for 11 of the twelve available places at the national level, of which 10 correspond to renewable companies and 3 to new companies.
On the other hand, she detailed the situation experienced by several establishments in the pandemic and the recovery of the sector of the 26 gambling casinos that operate in the country were closed since March 18, 2020 and only began to gradually reopen voluntarily and with capacity and operating hours restrictions from November 2020, being one of the most affected industries in the country.
In this context, the Superintendency relaxed some operating conditions that would allow adapting the operation of the casinos to the sanitary restrictions. Among these measures were considered to simplify and reduce the deadlines for notifying movements of gambling implements within the casinos, authorization for the fitting out of temporary terraces with gambling implements transferred from inside the casinos, flexibility of the requirements of the Closed Circuit of Television on the gaming terraces and authorization of the use of contactless payment methods, among others. With the closure of the casinos and the impossibility of generating flows by other means, the Covid-19 pandemic had a relevant impact on the gambling casinos. The operational results of the industry in 2020, considering the gross income of the game, taxes and visits, had a significant decrease compared to 2019, decreasing all these indicators by more than 76%. The decrease in gaming revenues for the group of casinos in Chile was approximately US $ 500 million. Meanwhile, the tax contribution, including the specific tax paid by gambling casinos and received by the territories in which it is located, decreased by US $ 120.
The good news is that, since August of this year, 25 of the 26 casinos have been able to operate without interruptions and in October the missing casino reopened, observing a significant recovery at the aggregate level, registering revenues equivalent to those obtained in 2019. Also 12 casinos showed a level of activity even higher than that registered before the pandemic.
Finally, the organization is finalizing details to carry out the official launch of its renewed website, for which they invite all interested parties to follow us through all social networks such as @cgslatam or write to us at info@cgssummit.com for sponsorship options.
